The Big Nasty - Downtown
A raw in your face ensemble that can flow seamlessly from country to hard rock with an unpretentious force that leaves audiences reeling.

The Big Nasty was formed in January 2009 by SF Bay Area Music Vets Ryan Lukas, Jacob Groopman, and Matt "Smitty" Smith. Looking to take a unique approach to the "power trio" format, the Big Nasty Utilizes a combination of instruments not usually associated with hard rocking or swinging country - Upright Bass, Cajon, and Electric Guitar.

Within months of their inception, The Big Nasty developed a repertoire of over 30 songs and partnered with Opus to record a pair of albums indicative of the two sides of the The Big Nasty: Country and Rock. Looking to capture the live nature of the band and raw sound, Skeen proposed recording the band all in the same room with little or no isolation.

The result was undeniably explosive. In a two day session TBN was able to record all 14 of the tracks for the double EP album with little to no edits, all of which are a solid representation of what the band has to offer- A raw in your face ensemble that can flow seamlessly from country to hard rock with an unpretentious force that leaves audiences reeling.  This is the first album.
